In 2012, at just 22 years old, I was diagnosed with follicular thyroid cancer. At the time, I knew very little about the thyroid or the vital role it plays in the body, and I had no idea how much this diagnosis would impact my life. What followed was an overwhelming period of surgery, lifelong medication, and radioiodine treatment.

During this challenging time, charities such as the British Thyroid Foundation provided invaluable support. They offered clear information and guidance when I needed it most, while also funding vital research into new and improved treatment options.

Wanting to give something back and support others facing similar experiences, I looked for a way to make a difference. I was fortunate enough to secure a ballot place in the London Marathon, which felt like the perfect opportunity to raise funds and awareness.

In total, I raised £949 for the British Thyroid Foundation — a small contribution towards the incredible work they do every day.
