About

Hypothyroidism is a common condition. And its autoimmune form, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, is the most common autoimmune condition.

And yet treatments have barely changed in over 80 years, and some people continue to have lingering symptoms despite their thyroid levels being well controlled with thyroid medication.

Our experts Professor Onyebuchi Okosieme and Dr Nicola Zammitt addressed many of your frequently asked questions, including causes of hypothyroidism, why symptoms persist, and in what circumstances it might be appropriate to be offered a trial of liothyronine (LT3)/levothyroxine (LT4) combination therapy.
